Lasvit's Olympic Sparkle Excitement is in the air as we gear up for the Olympics opening ceremony tonight. Each Czech Olympian will carry a special glass charm designed by Jan Černý and handcrafted by Lasvit. These amulets, shaped like linden tree leaves—the Czech national tree and symbol of love, perseverance, and protection—embody the athletes' determination, drive, and national pride. They represent a tangible connection between the athletes and Czechia, reminding them that their nation stands behind them every step of the way. The final étape of the Tour de France is fast approaching, and we cannot wait to celebrate its champions once again. For the past fourteen years, Lasvit has partnered with Škoda Design to create a trophy that is handcrafted by the artisans at Ajeto glassworks, the fiery heart of Lasvit’s creative campus. Standing at 60 centimeters tall and weighing over 5 kilograms, this trophy, conceived by Peter Olah of Škoda Design, has maintained its iconic shape for 14 years. However, each year brings a fresh design to the glass cut. This year's design draws inspiration from the ephemerality of the moment, featuring amorphous, seemingly disorganized bubbles bubbling up from the bottom. Alessandro Mendini, a towering figure in Milanese design, sparked movements like Radical Design and Post-Modernism. From editing Casabella to designing iconic buildings and objects, his influence is unmatched. Since his passing in 2019, his legacy continues through his daughters, Fulvia and Elisa, who faithfully look after his works, including the Rombo vase for Lasvit. Mendini and Lasvit joined forces in 2017, when "Rombo" vase was born as part of Lasvit's Monster series, winning the Milan Design Award in 2019. A real-sized tree made of glass elements symbolizes growth and beauty, merging art with nature in a striking tribute to creativity and craftsmanship.

In the heart of London, history is painted in hues of red and white. From the Wars of the Roses to the iconic Whitehall Palace, these colors symbolize England’s storied past and vibrant present. The common poppy is a common flower, but very delicate to the touch. It symbolizes vanitas, the transience of life, and has been a dignified representation of war heroes for over a century. Although the petals fall away, the poppy capsule remains, filled with thousands of tiny poppy seeds. Thus, the allusion to rebirth, hope, and a brighter future could not be stronger. Our red glass poppies installation at the Raffles London at The OWO is a tribute to the resilience and memory of the past. Each delicate glass flower captures the essence of remembrance, floating gracefully against the backdrop of Whitehall.
