Earlier this year we unveiled our new office in Dubai, a hub of innovation, as part of our bid to enhance our global presence and strengthen our partnerships in the Middle Eastern region. Xanthos Kyriacou, Columbia Group Managing Director Middle East, sat down with Robban Assafina for their latest issue to discuss Columbia's vision for our expansion into the Middle East and the challenges facing the maritime industry today, citing geopolitical tensions and the green transition as key risk areas. He states, "As a global maritime outfit, the Columbia Group has maintained engagement with major stakeholders in the region. With our presence in the UAE, the Columbia Group is ideally positioned to align with and actively support the country's ambitious 2050 vision for sustainability and zero emissions." As far as Columbia Group's response to the industry's environmental regulations, he expresses support for the International Maritime Organization's vision. Mr. Kyriacou notes that we have joined the NH3CRAFT and BlueBARGE Projects, which aim to develop technology for onboard ammonia storage as marine fuel and provide offshore electrical power supply to moored vessels respectively. He adds, "Columbia is overseeing the construction of Super B-Class vessels, which are not only dual-fuel and methanol-ready but also meet high automation and emission standards, consistent with IMO regulations."
