Getting help

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Comments Never use a higher ISO than you need (higher ISO is more noise). You do not need IS0 400 when shooting in daylight. The colors are great, composition is good, but the picture has a lot of noise (quite unnecessarily). Some noise in the sky is usually okay here, if the picture is otherwise sharp (but it's too much here IMO).--ArildV 16:10, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Have you seen current PotD (FP) File:Leeds Castle, Kent, England 3 - May 09.jpg? --Sfu 14:17, 9 October 2011 (UTC) Denoised sky, panoramic image->the individual images are downsampled->less visible noise. Or should I put my Nikon D80 at ISO1600 the next time I shoot in daylight? Also a big difference between EOS 400D and EOS 50D. But the point (and that we judge) is the image quality, and it is too much noise. And I am convinced that it could have been avoided with different settings. FoP Latvia

Hello, I'd really appreciate it very much if you create ONE deletion request page for the FoP in Latvia (as I did here) instead of creating one for each picture, since the argument is the same for them all and I don't need the same message 100 times in my page. Hello, after you took care that all my pictures of Vanšu tilts are gone, I'd like to ask you why were there exclusively only picture of my authorship, whereas in the project there are many others and even a category for the bridge. The FoP does not apply there?. I agree that we have to attach to our policies but it is the first time that I see that they are author-centered instead of subject-centered. Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign for User:The Photographer

Please excuse me spamming you. As a regular on Feature Picture Candidatess you will recognise User:The Photographer, who has 86 Featured Pictures. His contributions cover the architecture and culture of Brazil and Venezuela. He has basic photographic equipment: an old D300 camera and 35mm lens, and lives in a poor country where photographic equipment is expensive. The Photographer has recently taken several images using the technique where multiple frames are stitched together to create a high-resolution panorama. However, many times frustrated with the stitching errors that result from trying to take such photos without a proper panoramic head for his tripod. This special equipment permits the camera to be rotated around the entrance pupil of the lens, and eliminates such errors. Having a panoramic head would greatly increase the potential for The Photographer to create sharp high-resolution images for Commons. In addition, the purchase of a fisheye lens would enable 180 × 360° panoramas to be taken, which are a great way to explore a scene as though one is really there.
