Hello, Rangilo Gujarati!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Hello Rangilo Gujarati,

I've tried some edits of your bust of HH Shri Ranjit Singhji.
I hope it is better. If not, you may revert at the level you wish (three edits, all made with GIMP).
The third was only an "artistic" work ("repair"), like a joke.
The main problem is that the photographer (you ?) was not really in the middle front of the stairs behind, so it is impossible to have a good symmetry.
The lamp above is naturally tilted, and it is disturbing too. (I was to clone it out, but it has been a too big manipulation IMO).
After the perspective and tilt corrections, we have another problem : the crop is a bit tight now near the shoulders of the bust.
As the portrait itself is really very good and sharp and the background not very informative, maybe could you try a black masking job, to let the Highness breathe a bit more.
Anyway, it is a good picture very informative, with a high encyclopedic value. I suppose it will be a QI, but I cannot vote now.
Is this a Maharadjah ? A King ? From which par of India ? I think we need more informations.
Thank you for uploading this photograph, I hope many others !
Sorry for my bad english,
Friendly from Paris, and again, feel free to revert !
--Jebulon (talk) 12:59, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Jebulon thanks for the changes you made on the file. Yea I was the photographer who took the picture, thanks for stating it as a high encyclopedic value image. Also yes this is a picture of Maharajah (King) one of the past rulers of Jamnagar (Nawanagar), Gujarat, western part of India. His name is Ranjitsinhji you can find more info in the presented link. Also please do have a look at this Lakhota_Museum_Jamnagar, I covered that museum as a part of small GLAM activity carried out alone. Thanks. Hi

[edit]

I just noticed your nomination Commons:Featured_picture_candidates#File:Danaus_Plexippus_in_Smithsonian_3.JPG. Well composed but lacks fine details as compared to the existing FP, may be due to the shutter priority mode (so F4.5 only) and ISO 400. Which lens you are using?

I'm bit confused with the ID too. Although it is listed as available in India, I never found a photo of it from here. The underside is very similar to Danaus genutia which is very common in India. Do you have a photo of the upper-side?

Regards, -- Jkadavoor (Jee) (talk) 07:33, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for your comment. I used Tamron 70-300 mm lens for this one, and yes I am from India but this picture is not taken there. I took this in Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History's Butterfly park in Washington DC, so this butterfly definitely should be Danaus Plexippus only. --Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 03:27, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol and DRs

[edit]

Please do not use Delete when doing New Page Patrol. There are a number of Admins that do NPP regularly, so no action at all is necessary, but if you must add a tag, please use Speedy. A Deletion Request takes three actions to close, while simply deleting a page with a Speedy can be done with only one.

All of the pages that you tagged with Delete today qualified easily for Speedy as they all were galleries with no images. Thanks, .     Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 21:44, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Aagh sorry, my bad. I thought by clicking on the link delete I was submitting Speedy, but it actually was Delete. Thanks for notifying me. --Rangilo Gujarati (talk) 21:47, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Narendra Modi by Rangilo 06.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
