A-League Men Stats Charts
[edit]Hello, looking at your recent work on historical performance graphs of Australian soccer clubs in local competitions, I would like to know how you create these graphs, what program do you use to carry out such work? YangerAAS (talk) 15:21, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi,
- I did all the data manipulation and graphs in R. The data came from wikipedia, reading in the regular season league tables for every season from the wikipedia page, and I also had a separate table of colour codes for each team. There was one program for all the A-League Men graphs, anther for the NSL teams, and them a third program to combine the graphs for the teams which competed in both NSL and A-League, but all of it was done in R. - Very interesting to know about this process, but even if you focus on the Australian leagues, could you make tables like the New Zealand football league? And also, it would be a good idea to add a category for the work you produce... YangerAAS (talk) 23:22, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Have you got an example from the NZ league? 203.220.45.154 23:45, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- New Zealand National Soccer League (1970–1992; 2000–2003)
- New Zealand Superclub League/Summer League/Islands Soccer League (1993–1999)
- New Zealand Football Championship (2004–2021)
- New Zealand National League (2021–present)
- All 1st division football (soccer) leagues that existed in New Zealand. I think you have a base... YangerAAS (talk) 18:41, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

- So, could you make this type of graph focused on New Zealand football (soccer)? YangerAAS (talk) 17:34, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I have started to look at this and I am planning to do some graphs for the teams from these leagues. Pdf70 (talk) 22:56, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much!... YangerAAS (talk) 01:31, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
- I have done graphs for the NZ clubs going back to the National Soccer League in 1970. For any club where they had around 10 years in the top division there is now a graph on their wiki page. Some clubs, such as Eastern Suburbs, had a long time out of the 1st division, and so for them I only showed their time in the NZ NSL.
- Also, with the new National League set-up we can get quite a few teams that are different in each year of the finals. I have only included the position in the championship phase for the National League. In the future it might be worth showing the positions from the regional league below the championship phase, just to get a bit more continuity in the graphs. But for now I have just put in top division.
- Let me know if you have any comments. Pdf70 (talk) 21:40, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
