Watermarking
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your contributions, but watermarked images are strongly discouraged. All images uploaded need to be under a free license, which allows for modification, rendering the goal of watermarking pointless. If you do not want to release your images under such a license, please don't upload them here. Thanks for understanding. Jkelly 23:38, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- The image with the watermarking was taken by my friend, which allowed to release it under GFDL. The orginal picture he gave included the watermarking and I just didn't removed it. MathKnight 16:49, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:PragueCathedral02.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:PragueCathedral02.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Cathedral of Toledo's Commons entry
[edit]you put a language link in this article's common's entry. but you linked the actual article. Articles have language links to other articles (only). Categories have language links to other categories (only). Projects have language links to other projects (only). and Commons have language links to other commons (only). articles dont link to projects, nor categories to commons. what you did is link a common to an article. the "Cathedral of Toledo" article itself already has a language link to hebrew. in fact, the article has language links to about 6 other languages, and none of these show up on Commons' entry. you should remove that language link, or i'll do it later on, soon as i figure out how Common's works. i'm the user Ivansevil in regular Wikipedia if you want to reply, or i'll just come back to see what you think. 65.16.160.82 17:45, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem linking category on Commons to an article in Wikipedia (naturally, I would link to the Hebrew one since I am an Israeli). In WikiCommons there is a mixture between "articles" and categories as they serve the same purposes and both require links to articles in the Wikipedias. MathKnight 20:22, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Sambach 21:50, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

the rest of the story
[edit]I wrote at english wikipedia a few months back that I was having a difficult time (possibly due to age and to cultural images) imagining a gothic jew. To be honest, within a few hours of authoring that (which if I remember correctly was on one of the first truly warm days here this season) I actually had an idea of what this might look like -- an image pulled from the cultural soup which the future has become. The Satanic priest in my favorite episode of Metalocalypse, Dethreligon where Murderface spends the eleven non-musical minutes of that particular animated episode "trying on" different religions. This analysis of modern practice of religion is right up there with the Lucy Daughter of the Devil episode (also eleven well spent minutes) in which Jesus and the Devil compare Burning Man with the temptations that the devil has access to.
If you get a chance to see these episodes; both of these episodes stand out from their different seasons to me as being among the best of the lot of them and I think that if viewed individually (if that is the option or choice) that there is not much that needs to be explained about the characters and the situations other than a modern rendering of a Jesus story (pronounced in that series "DJ Hey Zeus") and the life and lifestyle of a metal band.
When I was a child, the FCC had rules against making toys out of television characters. I confess that now, I would love to have a action figure collection including the five-seater motorcycle that they drew for Dethklok. <rant>Jesus also has some toys -- I am so not interested in those; I could write perhaps a masters thesis on how not interested I am in the Lucy Daughter of the Devil toys and the wrongness of using profiles to "market" technology when a simple "yes" or "no" would be more specific to the person being targeted.</rant> -- carol (talk) 21:14, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I don't know the TV show you are talking about, so it doesn't say a lot me. My Gothicness has nothing to do with Satanism or Paganism, but with art (Gothic architecture, Gothic ficition, God, Angels and Death etc) and philosophy. My look is pretty ordinary since I don't have the time or the will to invest in "Vampiric" fashion. By manifesting Gothic with art and philosopy I am Gothic, and yet a "Masorti" Jew. Thanks of the interest, MathKnight 18:49, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi MathKnight, I have made a suggestion at the talk page to move this gallery page to Chartres Cathedral as the associated category moved as well (which was, however, not my doing). latuff categories
[edit]Hi MathKnight,
Of course no doubt some (maybe most) latuff images belong to categories Antisemitism, Racism, and Fascism. The question is, if they should be added to the gallery. I do not think so and I'd like to explain you why:
Although most Commons readers are enough educated and are enough intelligent to take latuff images for what they really are - hate, blunt, one sided propaganda, there are still some readers, who do not know history, and believe latuff images to be educational, peaceful and so on. That's why the less people to see the images the less harm they do. I hope you'd agree that the less categories the gallery has, the less people will see hateful propaganda. Isn't this what we really want now? That's why I stopped arguing about keeping my images, that I created to fight latuff caricatures. The thing is that my images were linked to latuff gallery and I suddenly realized that it is not what I want to do.Best wishes.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:14, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

File tagging File:Armored-excavator01.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Armored-excavator01.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

I was not able to access the triforium, the roofs nor the towers. I have picture of some windows (not all of them, but some), the flying buttresses I could see from the ground. No general view of the nave (scaffoldings in the choir :-(), no good shot of the facade (no good angle). I'll put my uploads here, you may want to put the page on your watchlist. It usually takes me some time to process a shooting session, so be patient!
