Image Tagging Image:Visa-Grey.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Visa-Grey.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Flickr photos
[edit]Hi! Thanks for your contributions. Please note that just because an image on Flickr is publicly viewable does not mean that the photographer has released it into the public domain. Some of the pictures that you have uploaded (for example this one are clearly marked "All rights reserved", which means that they cannot be uploaded to the wikimedia commons. Answering
[edit]OK, thank you very much for explaining me these problems. I think you can delete all the pictures you're talking about, because I have already solved the question of these unclear copyrights. (sorry for my english, I'm italian... :) :) :) )... These pictures are not used in my wiki-pages and so they're not used in any other wiki-page I've seen.
Pay attention to copyright | Image:Peugeot-202-Cabriolet.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. The Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content, that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added will soon be deleted. If you believe this image is not a copyright violation, please explain why on the image talk page.

OK, thank you for the message. I've simply forgotten to choose the copyright status. You can delete the Image:Peugeot-202-Cabriolet.jpg even now.
I'll re-upload it with the right copyruight status.
Bye and thanks again.
About my last picture without a copyright status...
[edit]Ok, I've just uploaded the same picture with a slightly different filename and a clear copyright status. The new filename is Image:Peugeot-202-Black-Cabriolet.jpg So you can delete the old file when you want. Bye!!!! :D :D :D
CC license does not mean it's ok on Commons
[edit]Hello. You have uploaded some Creative Commons licensed pictures from Flickr and worked on getting the licensing information right here on Commons. Please note that even if a photo is with a CC license, it does not automatically mean that it's free. You should really read the links given to you in the messages above. Specifically, nonderivative and noncommercial licenses are not accepted here. So when you are looking on Flickr for photos to upload here, be sure to tick the "Find content to use commercially" and "Find content to modify, adapt, or build upon" boxes.
To check the license of a picture on Flickr, you can click the "Some rights reserved" and see the license, or hover over it and see it as a tooltip and in the status bar. For example, the picture you say you have fixed in the previous message, Image:Peugeot-202-Black-Cabriolet.jpg, is on Flickr with the "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0" license, which is not ok here. Could you please check the licensing of all pictures you have uploaded from Flickr and mark for deletion the non-free ones? Thanks. I hope this helps. --Para 14:47, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Answer
[edit]R: Hello. Sorry for my ignorance, I've not yet understood what does an uploaded image need to be accepted, and then some errors can occur. Now, I'll try to repair these images to make them better for Wikipedia Commons (I'm sorry another time for my english: I'm italian)...
Now, take a look to the same image you have talked me about: Image:Peugeot-202-Black-Cabriolet.jpg. I have tried to repair it. What do you think? I have written the author, the day he had uploaded the image and a new link in which is described all the operations that I can do with the image (and all the operations I cannot do)... Is it a right way to have a right image? Let me know.... Bye. :D :D :D
- You have documented the licensing well, but unfortunately images with such licensing are not accepted on Commons. If you don't read English well, that's alright, the important texts exist in Italian as well. Commons:Licenze says that "L'uso commerciale dell'opera deve essere permesso" and the licensing of that particular picture says that "Non commerciale. Non puoi usare quest'opera per fini commerciali". These two don't match, and thus the image can't be here on Commons with that licensing. The only thing you can do is write to the author using Flickr mail and ask him if he could change the licensing. This is true for all the images you have uploaded with an NC (non commerciale) or an ND (non opere derivate) license. --Para 18:20, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
R: are you sure? I haven't used the image for commercial purpose. In the third link of the same image (Image:Peugeot-202-Black-Cabriolet.jpg) you can find that I'm free to copy and distribute the image.... please, take a look on the page again...
- Yes, unfortunately that is the case. "Tutto il materiale presente su Commons deve essere rilasciato sotto una licenza libera che permetta a chiunque di utilizzarlo per qualunque scopo", including commercial use and derivative works, even if you are not doing anything commercial yourself. This is the main goal of Commons; to have a repository of truly free content. Please read through Commons:Licenze.
- The deed of that particular image exists in Italian as well, see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.0/deed.it. Even though you are free to copy and distribute, commercial use is not allowed, so the image is not really free and not ok here. If you want to use the images in some Wikimedia project, you should ask there if they have less strict requirements, and then upload them there. --Para 18:46, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
R: mmm, I see... I have just read the italian page about licences... so, I could think that all the pictures I have uploaded, are wrong... tomorrow I'll try to replace them.... what a shame... thank for having explained me this rules....bye bye...
Pics removed
[edit]Ok, I have removed the forbidden pics, that is all the pictures taken by the Flickr site. Where it was possible, I have replaced them with other pictures already existing in the Wikimedia database. The forbidden pics can be deleted now. Bye!

- The commonist is a program that makes it easier to upload a lot of files so it might be useful for you. Also, just so you know in the future, at the end of comments on talk pages, we sign our posts with ~~~~ this creates a signature with your name like this one -> Yonatan talk 18:30, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Hey! I was wondering if you could choose more descriptive file names as this makes it much easier for people to find and use your photos. Thanks, Yonatan talk 18:29, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
R: ok, that's not a problem... from the next picture I'll update, there will be more descriptive filenames. Bye...
Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. Molto Grazie
[edit]Dear Luc106
I think you must be the person who has contributed a whole lot of articles on individual car models from the 1930s / 40s / 50s to Italian wiki. I just want to thank you for all that work. A lot of the older cars on which you write are very little known in the anglophone countries, and I have been translating bits from German, French and Italian wiki to fill some of the gaps. The Italian Beitraege very often have your name on them!
I do not understand too much 'serious' Italian (though I'm fine with ordering a pizza, which is 100% serious when a fellow is hungry), so I've been using computer programs to translate and then using the anglophone outcome only with caution. But generally I know enough about the car to know when the translation program is giving me wrong information (and of course it is, up to a point, possible to corroborate between different language versions).
Again, thank you very much. I am learning a lot from your inputs.
Success

Image:Peugeot Type 172 BC Quadrilette.jpg
[edit]I noticed that you described this vehicle as a Type 172 BC "Quadrilette", which must not be accurate. According to Peugeot, the Quadrilette designated Type 161 and Type 172, and the 172 BC was the first model of the 5CV designation. This either a 5CV (and hence not a Quadrilette) or a Quadrilette (and hence not a Type 172 BC). It looks to me like it's a 5CV based on the image on Peugeot's history website, so you should probably change the designation and remove "Quadrilette" from it. I have been making articles on Wikipedia for many old Peugeots and this will be useful to describe the 5CV article. Chaparral2J 04:44, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Fiat 1100/103 Familiare

Trabant P50 / UR-50
[edit]Hi Luc,
you've created the Category:Prototyp UR-50 for the 1954 Prototypes of the later Trabant P50. Where does you name “UR-50” come from? I only could find this phrase on Commons an the italian Wikipedia. Is it possible, that this was only a misinterpretation of phrases like “Ur-Trabant” or “Ur-P50” – what could be translated as first/original/ancient version (like in german words uralt=very old or Urvater=forefather)?
All museum displays of the prototype I could find, call it simply “P50 prototype”. -- burts ∞ 13:11, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, I've read your message. Yes, you're right, it was an error of reading. I've read the code in a wrong way, actually it was "Ur-P50" as you have told me... I'm sorry, it was an error of mine... :( :( :( How can I correct the mistakes? --Luc106 (talk) 20:09, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- OK. So I will move the files to the new category Category:AWZ P50 prototypes. -- burts ∞ 20:58, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:BMW-2002-TI-Garmisch.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:BMW-2002-TI-Garmisch.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |
