Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate category and optionally place the images on topic pages (galleries) , or do both (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help. You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files here: Gallery

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. P.S. Maybe this category will be interesting for you.

New Jersey state seal

Duplicates

Different filetypes are different even if the content is identical - see Commons:Deletion guidelines#General procedure. Note that Image:Senegal coa.gif is 18K and Image:Coat of arms of Senegal.png is 15K, proof of the difference. Such superseded images have to go through COM:DEL under the current rules. No admin should speedily delete such images, so they should not be in Category:Duplicate (where they clutter it up). Thanks.--Nilfanion 12:56, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

The three Kb difference could consist of redundant data for all we know, but I understand the procedure that has to be followed now. If images inappropriately marked with {{Duplicate}} is an annoyance for admins, the template info should be clarified! Thanks for highlighting that Quebec one. I suspect I'm too strict on the rules for dupes at the moment, the reason is I'm trying to deal with the insane backlog there. Once its under control, any which I am not comfy with speedily deleting I'll send to COM:DEL myself. Vector version

Hi! Why do you always vote for keeping an image even though vector version is available? You state the reason “for reference”. Can you describe that more in detail? I do not think that keeping an obsolete image is necessary. Thank you! --slady 08:18, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Im sorry

But FOTW cannot claim copyright on Image:Us-ca-sf.png, or any flag image for that matter, unless it actually owns the image. Furthermore, as this image was significantly modified (as was indicated in the page detail), FOTW has no claims whatsoever on the image.

I'm not getting myself into this whole FOTW vs. Wikipedia debate, but needless to say, their presence on Wikipedia/Commons is controversial so I wholeheartedly believe we're better out without them. Yes, you can peice together pieces of various versions of a public domain image and call it public domain.

We actually have good relation with FOTW editors--two of them are Commons admins, in fact. FOTW's copyright claims on public domain images are spurious, and the only reason we regard them is because we have a relationship with editors there. Using the FOTW template tag causes these images to be incorrectly labeled as copyvios.

I see no indication that you have replaced any of these images with acceptable quality.

SVG instead of PNG

I notice that you're transferring a lot of files from GIF to PNG.. have you considered SVG instead? SVG is superseding PNG much in the way PNG superseded GIF. A freeware program called Inkscape is available for creating SVGs. Thanks! Drumguy8800 07:02, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Bad svg experience

After changing text to path, Text dissapeared (or may be it had fallen to the lowest layer). You can see that I have a problem not only with text, but with some another objects too.. Sexual identity flags

Brilliant stuff! I actually reconstructed all of the flags there :) I think that particular article is great although I haven't seen it before. Question

Why you replace the flag of the kingdom of france by a white flag that doesn't make sense the real flag have Iris so pleas delete what you have doing. This flag was just used by some naval fleet and not for the flag of the kingdom of France. Comeau

I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear. If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
