Image (commons) deletion request placed by you !!
[edit]Hi. I see that you placed the tag of speedy deletion on these 2 images: [1] and [2]. It is clear that for Image '1' already there was a discussion and it was decided to be kept. And also Image '2' is likely a own work from the uploader. Both these 2 images are own works of their respective uploaders and their contribution history shows this & also both users are currently not active in wiki and so suddently citing no source and removal of these images permanently is not correct. Also both these images are presently placed under many other wiki articles on various other topics. So immediately deleting it without giving its due importance is not good practise and I would like to make correction on these images by including -- Source: Own Work. It is clear that both the images are own self work. ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 05:30, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- I agree with you but also note that with lack of knowledge or other possible reasons the source might be missing there. In that case I only say that until informing the uploaders and asking them to correct their mistake by including the (Source: Own Work); Instead anyone being an admin & suddenly citing some reasons & removing it is certainly not the right way. Unfortunately those two uploaders are presently not active now in either wiki or commons. These all are some rather peculiar suituations and its wise to view it at that account. It is very clear those images are of high resolution and it cannot be proved that it has been downloaded from internet/websites, so on all account it must be "Own Work"; with only exception no source included. I feel its easy to destroy something rather creating so give some time or make some possible efforts to get the source from uploaders, rather than in one shot citing some condition from rule book and taking actions. ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 07:25, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
File talk:Tirangaa Lyricist Santosh Anand (1970-1998).jpg .
[edit]Reference:File talk:Tirangaa Lyricist Santosh Anand (1970-1998).jpg .
This file is not copyrighted, as I have made a collage of the movie titles for which Shri Santosh Anand composed lyrics , to show his capabilities. The movies and the music of the collage movies were compositions to reckon with , categorizing him as a frequent award winner. Where will I get images of the movies otherwise ? There should be some logic to such allegations !

Aarop 16-1-1974.jpg
[edit]Aarop 16-1-1974.jpg. This file is not copyrighted as I have made a collage of the images of the movie to show its social relevance, apart from what is released by the DVD owner or the people connected to movie sales or distribution. --Mamta Jagdish Dhody (talk) 04:03, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Image Deletion of Raftaar
[edit]It is not a photo studio picture clicked by a professional. Its simply clicked by him. The website's writer written a biography about him and attached the picture, definitely it is not copyrighted neither website's owner nor Raftaar himself. Oviously, It can be use for his wiki page. I would be glad if you remove your this issue. Thank you. -- Sadmansakib625 (talk) 10:57, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
- Sadmansakib625 (talk · contribs), no, I will not remove the deletion tag. There is no evidence of permission. If you wish to discuss this, please visit the nomination page. --Geniac (talk) 17:16, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
Please remove the copyright violation tag for the image files "Qari Zahir Qasmi.jpg" and "Qari Shakir Qasmi.jpg"
[edit]Please remove the copyright violation tags for the image files "Qari Zahir Qasmi.jpg" and "Qari Shakir Qasmi.jpg" as for I have emailed the author for special permission on gmail. I have asked if I am allowed to publish and distribute the two files publically and he had said that I am allowed to. Also, is there a reason that pictures such as these should be copyrighted? These are images of real people and I do not see any reason why they should be deleted. Please delete the copyright violation tags. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShirazQ (talk • contribs) 16:34, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- @ShirazQ: I have changed the deletion tags to ones that allow 7 days to provide evidence of permission by either providing a link to a site with an explicit release under a free license or by sending a declaration of consent to [email protected]. --Geniac (talk) 17:31, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
I have provided permission to “[email protected]”. What’s next? ShirazQ (talk) 06:35, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- @ShirazQ: I have added {{OP}} to File:Qari Shakir Qasmi.jpg and removed the deletion tag. The image is now in the queue to be reviewed by an OTRS volunteer. --Geniac (talk) 00:36, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
[edit]Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to [email protected], so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at [email protected].
Thank you!
