Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 14:05, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

1054 Schism
[edit]Please stop manipulating the sources!
Your book says "monasteries and convents belonging to the Byzantine Church were founded sporadically in the eleventh century", not "Byzantine Churches were spread sporadically in the eleventh century in Hungary"
If the Hungarian Kings refused to build Orthodox monasteries, it does not mean other did not already exist since before the Hungarian coming from Siberia, or that Hungary did not have a large Orthodox population (Iaaasi (talk) 10:12, 4 October 2011 (UTC))
- What are you talking about? Hungarian kings established Byzantine monasteries (in central Hungary, Tihany, Visegrád etc), Andrew I was the 'biggest' founder of Orthodox churches......Fakirbakir (talk) 12:06, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- Moreover there was a pagan mass...Large Orthodox or Catholic population in the 10-11th century??? NO WAY...Fakirbakir (talk) 12:08, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- According to your map 95% of Hungary was Catholic, even if this confession was oficially adopted only 54 years before (in year 1000). I see no pagan mass on your map, and the way you are drawing the Orthodox areas is 100% original research. This map: [1] presents the official religions of European countries, not the religious beliefs of the population. If you insert the term "official religions" in the image descriptions from articles, I can accept it in this form and I will stop the dispute (Iaaasi (talk) 12:22, 4 October 2011 (UTC))

Central Europe
[edit]Szia!
I am writing to you because of this edit, where you claimed that File:CentralEurope.png has "plenty of sources" on its page. That is true, but a clarification is needed. Originally, the file had absolutely no source between 30 June 2009 and 2 June 2012, when I started adding them in support of map changes made by me (my proposals were to include the whole of Romania and the Baltic states)
I'd like to invite you to participate at a civilized talk page discussion in order to reach a consensus regarding the regions that should be marked as being in Central Europe.
The main disputed issue is the inclusion of Eastern and Southern Romania, that was contested by User:Csendesmark Iaaasi (talk) 07:52, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello,
Can you actually demonstrate the source that you used that they are really supporting your map? How did you made this map from this sources if they are not available online? You must have this books. If so, can you demonstrate atlest one of the 2 newly added sources? If you could demonstrate it would make things a lot clearer. Thank you.Iadrian yu (talk) 11:38, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

"pls do not modify Ramsey Muir's work"
[edit]Hi. Never I modify an art work. But Ramsey Muir is a cartographer, not an artist. I accept modifications on my maps if I'm wrong, why can we not modify a Ramsey Muir's work if something miss ? --Spiridon Ion Cepleanu (talk) 23:02, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
- I do not want you to modify my upload. I will not start a debate about historical issues. Please respect my request. Thank you. Fakirbakir (talk) 23:22, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
- I respect your will but this is not collaborative. According with Muir and many other english maps from this periode, Vlachs are appearing only in the XIV c., many centuries after the break down of the roman influence in the Balkans. From where are they growing ? From some seeds in the ground ? All studies about languages and toponymics show a pastoral romance-speaking dispersed population (later melting with the Slavs, the Magyars, the Pachenegs and the Comans) on the both banks of the Danube... But I understand this is not your preoccupation... --Spiridon Ion Cepleanu (talk) 19:24, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
File:Kingdom of Hungary Literacy 1900.png
[edit]Hello! I've created the map File:Kingdom of Hungary Literacy 1900.png 2 years ago and I am wondering if it is usable of wikipedia. Do you think that the county names on purple background aren't legible enough? Iaaasi (talk) 21:31, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- They are legible enough. The problem of legibility can be fixed up easily. I think this map is quite usable.Fakirbakir (talk) 22:34, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
A discussion that you might be interested in...
[edit]...is taking place at File_talk:Lands_under_Louis_the_Great_in_the_middle_of_the_14th_century.jpg Iaaasi (talk) 09:57, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- Please don't make blind reverts. The Southern borders of the map are clearly wrong a per modern historiography. Louis the Great only had authority over some parts of Northern Bosnia, and it is questionable that the actual Bosnia was vassal at that time. But the major problem is Serbia, which was certainly not a vassal state at that time. Also, the borders are so s wrong, Bosnia ruling northern parts of Albania and Macedonia? Please find me a single source for that. Sorry, I suppose Hungarians may like this map very much because it makes his rule over enormous territory, but at least in the South, that didn't happened at the alleged time. The map doesn't match to any maps of modern historiography for that period, and is a map made in the 19th century with obvious lack of information. It is not usual to use centuries old maps with majos factual errors as historical maps when they don't correspond to historical facts we know nowadays from that period. The map cannot be used as a historical fact as it was used in many articles. FkpCascais (talk) 16:42, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- I does not matter if the map is wrong or right. Look you can't "censor" Homolka's view. Fakirbakir (talk)

File:Kisvarda stadium.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. Hungarian minority in Slovakia has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

File tagging File:Gezas coin.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Gezas coin.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Gezas coin.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Szekelyek big.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Szekelyek big.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |
