Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Is Category:OpenStreetMap Surface Tagging Examples intended as a maintenance category, a user category, or what? Really doesn't make sense as a topical category, or what? It really doesn't seem to fit with what a normal topical category is supposed to be. If you want it as a maintenance category or a user category, I can set that up correctly for you. Also, if it's really just a collection of examples, it might make more sense as a gallery page OpenStreetMap surface tagging examples, especially because that would let you annotate each image with what it is an example of. - Jmabel ! talk 03:58, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the offer to help! I do see that a gallery would have a utility for annotation. I was thinking that it would be a useful category to assign to misc. photos of pavement types that are exemplary of what a certain type of surface is, for example a cobblestone-paved street. This all originated out of this discussion. I am open to suggestions and your expertise. Eplack (talk) 22:28, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- I've placed these in OpenStreetMap Surface Tagging Examples and written labels for the first three, which you are welcome to modify. At this point I'm handing it to you to do whatever you want with. You can set up multiple galleries, you can add text either to a particular photo or to describe a gallery, etc. This is much better than a category for something where you want other people to be able to know your intent with each image. At this point, I'm leaving it to you. - Jmabel ! talk 01:07, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
OpenStreetMap Surface Tagging Examples has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |
