English: Ship transport is the process of moving goods or people by ship. A Merchant Navy or Merchant Marine, is a class of seagoing vessels owned and operated by civilian companies. In times of conflict, merchant ships may sometimes officially complement the navy. "Merchant Navy" without further clarification is used to refer to the British Merchant Navy; the United States merchant fleet is known as the en:United States Merchant Marine:United States Merchant Marine.
