English: Page 12–13 of vol. II of the original edition of Christoph Martin Wieland’s German translation of Horace’ Satires, published in 1786. The present pages show the beginning of the first satire of the second book, together with many notes, probably made by a 19th century reader. Wieland’s translation and witty notes are famous and useful even today. Full original title in original spelling: Horazens Satyren[,] aus dem Lateinischen übersezt und mit Einleitungen und erläuternden Anmerkungen versehen von C. M. Wieland. Zweyter Theil. Leipzig, bey Weidmanns Erben und Reich. 1786.
Deutsch: Seite 12–13 von Band II der Erstausgabe von Christoph Martin Wielands deutscher Übersetzung der Satiren des Horaz, erschienen 1786. Diese Seiten zeigen den Anfang der ersten Satire des zweiten Buches, zudem zahlreiche Anmerkungen, wohl von einem Leser aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Wielands Übersetzung und seine geistreichen Anmerkungen waren berühmt und sind bis heute nützlich.
