English: One of a pair of Clodion vases, given by Louis XVIII of France to Monsieur, his brother, future king Charles X. Hard-paste porcelain and gilt bronze, 1817.
Français : Vase "Clodion", d'une paire de vases achetée par Louis XVIII à l'exposition des manufactures royales de 1818 (ne pas confondre avec les expositions des produits de l'industrie française), pour son frère Monsieur, comte d'Artois, futur Charles X. Dessins par Jean-Charles-François Leloy, qui compose le décor peint et les modèles des bronzes et coordonne les différentes étapes de réalisation de ces deux vases (il est en période de test par Brongniart et n'est intégré au personnel de la manufacture que l'année suivante, en 1818 ; ces vases sont une de ses premières réalisations pour la manufacture de Sèvres). Le fond, qui imite l'écaille de tortue, est réalisé par Louis-Victor Godin. Les bronzes sont montés par Louis-Honoré Boquet et dorés par Charles-Louis Constant. Les médaillons sont peints par Jean-Charles Develly et leur décor est complété par le peintre-doreur Charles-Christian-Marie Durosey. Le modèle du vase a été créé à la fin du XVIIIe siècle par le sculpteur Clodion. |
