Description
English: Sgt. Maj. Michael Jones, the sergeant major for II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), presents a letter of commendation from II MEF (Fwd.) commanding general, Maj. Gen. John A. Toolan, to Neal Clark, founder and president of "Support U.S. Armed Forces," aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 15, 2010. "Support U.S. Armed Forces" is a non-profit organization that donated 100 Christmas care packages to the families of deployed Marines. "We've talked to a couple of generals and with N.C. Senator Richard Burr to see what we can do to help and not duplicate the efforts of others," Clark said. "There are a lot of other organizations that do a lot of great stuff for the troops and send a lot of stuff downrange, but for us, we want to focus on the families." Steffanie Haertling, wife of Sgt. Jeff Haertling, a field radio operator with 2nd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, II MEF, has been with her husband through three deployments and has never seen this type of generosity.
