Minister-president Rutte bezoekt de haven van Rotterdam en de Tweede Maasvlakte. De Rotterdamse haven is het grootste haven- en industriecomplex van Europa en daarmee een belangrijke motor van de Nederlandse economie. De Tweede Maasvlakte wordt aangelegd om deze leidende rol te behouden en uit te bouwen. De haven van Rotterdam is van groot economisch belang voor Nederland. Elk jaar bezoeken gemiddeld 35.000 zeeschepen en 100.000 binnenvaartschepen de haven. Zo'n 3% van het totale Nederlandse inkomen wordt verdiend in de Rotterdamse haven. Deze biedt directe werkgelegenheid aan ruim 90.000 mensen. Naar verwachting voegt de Tweede Maasvlakte hier op termijn 6.000 directe banen aan toe. |
