| Description |
English: This perspective view shows the complex caldera (volcanic crater) of the Olympus Mons volcano on Mars. The image has been calculated from the digital elevation model derived from the stereo channels and combined with the nadir- and colour- channels of the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on ESA’s Mars Express.
The data has been retrieved from a height of 273 km in orbit 37 on 21 January 2004. The view is centred at 18.3°N and 227°E. The image is 102 km across and has a resolution of 12 m per pixel. The vertical exaggeration is 1.8. South is up.
Deutsch: Diese perspektivische Ansicht zeigt den eindrucksvollen Vulkankrater, die so genannte Caldera, des Olympus Mons auf Mars. Die Ansicht wurde aus dem digitalen Höhenmodell, abgeleitet aus den Stereokanälen, sowie dem Nadirkanal (senkrechte Blickrichtung) und den Farbkanälen der HRSC generiert. Die Aufnahme wurde am 21. Januar 2004 (Orbit 37) in einer Höhe von 273 Kilometer gemacht. Die Bildbreite beträgt 102 Kilometer bei einer Auflösung von 12 Meter pro Bildpunkt und liegt im Bildzentrum bei 18.3 Grad Nord und 227 Grad Ost. Die vertikale Überhöhung des Bildes beträgt 1,8.
