Summary
[edit]DescriptionSite of Little Mill Station (geograph 5239449).jpg |
English: Site of Little Mill Station The station was not close to any village, but was advertised as the station for Craster. It was opened in 1847 with the railway to provide a private station fpr Earl Grey, of Howick Hall, and did not become a public station until 1861. It closed to passengers in 1958 and to goods traffic in 1965. Passenger traffic was always light and the main traffic would have been from the adjacent limekilns and quarry. Although the neighbouring farm was and is named Littlemill, the station was always formally known as Little Mill - despite appearing as Littlemill on OS maps. |
