Summary
[edit]DescriptionShocked zircon.jpg |
English: Shocked neoblastic zircon grain from the Vredefort impact structure (South Africa), imaged by a variety of scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques. Up left: cumulative misorientation electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) map (crystallographic orientation from blue to red is 90 degrees); up right: backscattered electron (BSE) image; bottom left: EBSD map color-coded in unversed pole figure (IPF) colors; bottom right: EBSD pattern quality map. Note initial growth zoning of the grain, as well as zoning in individual neoblasts.
