Description
Deutsch: Der Platz Schlesisches Tor im heutigen Berlin-Kreuzberg. Später entsteht an diesem Ort der U-Bahnhof Schlesisches Tor.
Der Blick folgt der heutigen Oberbaumstraße nach Osten Richtung Oberbaumbrücke. Anstelle des Eckhauses auf der rechten Seite befindet sich heute ein Park.

Bildbeschreibung aus Berlin wird Weltstadt. Photographien von F. Albert Schwartz. Edition Leipzig, 1981, S. 27: “Am Schlesischen Tor. Die Aufnahme besitzt als Zeitdokument der radikalen Stadtveränderung Seltenheitswert. 1882. Das zur ehemaligen Toranlage gehörige Häuschen wurde als Arbeiterkneipe genutzt, nach dem die Industrie und die Mietshäuser hier im Süden eine neue Landschaft geschaffen haben.”
Bildbeschreibung zur Ansichtskarte im Bestand des FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museums (https://berlin.museum-digital.de/object/142496): “Die Abbildung zeigt eine Hausruine auf dem Platz "Schlesisches Tor" im heutigen Berliner Bezirk Kreuzberg. Derzeit befindet sich an dieser Stelle der U-Bahnhof Schlesisches Tor. Bei dem abgebildeten Gebäude handelt es sich um einen Bestandteil des Stadttores der ehemaligen Berliner Zoll- und Akzisemauer. Zu sehen ist ein kleines Gebäude mit abblätterndem Putz. Über einem Eingang ist ein Schild mit der Aufschrift "Bier- und Frühstück-Local // W. Thiele" angebracht. Der Vordergrund wird durch eine gepflasterte Fläche eingenommen. Im linken Hintergrund ist ein Gebäude aus Backsteinen zu erkennen. Ein Gewerbeschild mit der Aufschrift "E. Krüger […] // Holz & Kohlenhandlung" identifiziert den Betrieb.”
