| Description |
This is the Horsehead nebula in Orion, plus a lot of sensor noise. It is a stack of around 100 individual exposures, each one 30 seconds at ISO 3200. The tracking is good enough for the individual exposures, but there is quite a bit of drift over the course of an hour, so when the images are aligned so that the stars all line up, the fluctuations in sensor noise effectively drift across the image, creating this streaking effect. (which I may have, ever so slightly, enhanced just a little tiny bit in post-processing) |
