Nederlands: Prof. André Aleman, hoogleraar Cognitive neuropsychiatry aan de Rijksuniversiteit van Groningen, vertelt over de artikelen die hij zelf in een Open Access journal (PLoS ONE) heeft gepubliceerd. Hiervan kan hij online zien hoe vaak het is gelezen, gedownload en geciteerd is. Dit biedt hem overzicht of er belangstelling is voor dit onderwerp.
En met Open Access is hij niet afhankelijk van het abonnementenmodel waarmee tijdschriften niet toegankelijk zijn voor iedereen. Er zijn wetenschappers die dan niet bij publicaties kunnen. Maar ook mensen in derde wereldlanden kunnen niet bij de onderzoeksresultaten. "De kracht van Open Access is dat het de wetenschap toegankelijk maakt voor iedereen die het wil lezen." |
