Summary
[edit]DescriptionMoody Brook Antenna Field (51065697452).jpg |
The presence of an Admiralty wireless telegraphy (W/T) station is what gives the name to the long stone ridge that runs behind the site, although the transmitter and radio station itself is at Moody Brook. After the naval Battle of the Falklands in 1914 the transmitter station was upgraded. This work took 2 years to complete. Long wire antennae were strung between four (based on contemporary images) steel masts. The bases and anchor points can still be seen, as can what I believe to be a couple of the iron or steel tubular mast sections. |
