Alan “Dex” Poindexter, a former fighter pilot and astronaut, at the conclusion of their combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. CVW-2 is embarked aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) and is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
