Deutsch: Masillamys sp. Archivnummer: SMF ME 11295 (A–C); Ort der Verwahrung: Senckenberg Forschungsinstitut und Naturmuseum, Abteilung Messelforschung, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Alter: ca. 47 Mio. Jahre. Fundort: UNESCO Weltnaturerbe Grube Messel bei Darmstadt. Fund der Senckenberg-Grabung im September 2007.
English: Masillamys sp. Archive number: SMF ME 11295 (A–C); Location: Senckenberg Research Institute and Nature Museum, Messel Research Division, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Age: ca. 47 MYA. Discovery location: UNESCO Messel World Nature Heritage Excavation near Darmstadt. Found by Senckenberg excavation in September 2007.

Masillamys ist einer der ältesten Nager der Erdgeschichte; dieses Exemplar ist – einschließlich Resten des Mageninhalts – fast vollständig erhalten. Die Körperumrisse sind gleichfalls anhand eines Hautschattens erkennbar und können dahingehend interpretiert werden, dass das Tier einen dichten kurzhaarigen Pelz trug.
