Description
English: Lamentations for Keopuolani (1823); 1. Kuakini, Governor of Hawaii 2. Hoapiri, husband of Keopuolani 3. Kauikeouli, prince 4. Nahienaena, princess 5. Kamehamaru, favorite queen of Rihoriho 6. Wahinepio, sister of Karaimoku 7. Kalakua, mother of Kamehamaru 8. Kaiko, near relative of Keopuolani 9. Keoua, wife of Kuakini. The two men carrying the prince and princess are kahus or retainers. The two ladies on the far right could be the other wives of Kamehameha II, or Kaikio's female relatives, or female retainers.
