Line of the canal viewed from the canal bridge at Pontnewydd. The 1766 section of the canal started 1km south east from pontnewydd, running east to Kidwelly Quay. The extension ran to Cwmmawr, near Cross Hands, some 11km (7 miles) to the northeast.
