Portrait of John the Fearless (1371-1419), second Duke of Burgundy from the House of Valois. Half length, facing right. His hands are resting on a prayer desk, on which is draped a tapestry with the coats of arms of Valois, Burgundy (inherited by from his father, Philip the Bold) and the Flemish Lion (inherited from his mother, Margaret of Flanders).
