English: Introduced cool-season to yearlong-green perennial, slender, tufted or stoloniferous sedge, mostly proliferating. Stems are often decumbent, to 40 cm tall and to 3 mm diam. Leaves are reduced to dark red-brown sheaths. Flowerheads are a ± loose globose head of numerous spikelets, often with proliferous branches to 12 cm long; spikelets are 4–10 mm long. Glumes are hyaline or pale brown flecked or tinged dark red-brown. Styles are 3-fid. Flowering is mostly in spring to early summer. Grows in moist situations such as drains, wetlands and wet pastures. |
