Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Holi is a sacred ancient tradition of Hindus. It is a popular and significant Hindu festival celebrated as the Festival of Colours, Love, and Spring. It celebrates the eternal and divine love of the deities Radha and Krishna. Additionally, the day signifies the triumph of good over evil. Holi originated and is predominantly celebrated in the Indian subcontinent, but has also spread to other regions of Asia and parts of the Western world through the Indian diaspora. Holi also celebrates the arrival of Spring in India, the end of winter, and the blossoming of love. Hindus believe it is a time to enjoying spring's abundant colours and saying farewell to winter. To many Hindus, Holi festivities mark an occasion to reset and renew ruptured relationships, end conflicts, and rid themselves of accumulated emotional impurities from the past. Abir is played on the day of Holi. Abir is a type of dye used in the Indian subcontinent. It is used as a powder, not a liquid. Abir is generally not toxic. It is used during Holi. On the day of Holi, elders give Abir on the head of the younger ones as a blessing. The younger ones also give to the older on their foot as an honor. Then everyone smears Abir on everyone's cheeks. According to folklore, Krishna complained to his mother that he was much darker than Radha. As a result, Krishna's mother threw paint on Radha's face. According to Hindu belief, the festival of Holi started in the wake of this incident.
