Description Photograph on a postcard showing the original Hi Carpenter Bridge (formerly the Clarksburg-Columbus Short Route Bridge) in 1970 after it had closed due to similarities in construction to the collapsed w:Silver Bridge. The ferry in the foreground was used as a temporary means of crossing the river while the new Hi Carpenter Memorial Bridge was being built.
