Description
English: El Grupo Aéreo de Operaciones Especiales Nº 17, cumple activamente con el apoyo a las comunidades indígenas, con los planes establecidos por el Comando General de la Aviación, asimismo contribuye en el cumplimiento de los planes estratégicos formulados por la Región Estratégica de Defensa Integral Guayana, y también apoya las actividades del ejecutivo nacional y regional. El ave icono de esta unidad de combate, es el águila harpía, por las características similares que posee con el sistema de armas; esta águila es una de las más poderosas y, en Venezuela, es la especie de mayor tamaño de las aves rapaces diurnas; también posee la característica de poder levantar hasta tres veces su propio peso y es un excelente depredador que alcanza velocidades de hasta 108 nudos.
