| Description |
Elkhorn Tavern at Pea Ridge sat at what was an important pre-Civil War crossroads, and saw considerable traffic in its day. (Now it seems to sit in the middle of nowhere, as the nearest modern road is over a mile away.) Several important skirmishes in the battle of Pea RIdge occurred near the tavern, and the tavern served as a field hospital throughout. The original tavern burned down about a year after the battle, but this was built shortly after the Civil War. |
