Illustration from Illustrated History of Furniture, From the Earliest to the Present Time from 1893 by Litchfield, Frederick, (1850-1930) - Legend: Dagobert Chair. Chair of Dagobert, of gilt bronze, now [1893] in the Musée de Souverains, Paris [in 1979 in the "Cabinet des médailles" at the Bibliothèque Nationale, rue Richelieu, Paris]. Originally as a folding chair said to be the work of St. Eloi, 7th centur; back and arms added by the Abbé Suger in 12th century. There is an electrotype reproduction in the South Kensington Museum. N.B. legend was written in 1893.
