Description There isn't a coal port there, however. Maybe there used to be. The coal trains rumbling through Bellingham on their way to Canada are headed to Robert's Bank (not named for me, I'm a different Robert). Robert's Bank coal terminal is located near Tsawwassen Ferry landing. The famous "Bellingham coal train controversy" has to do with plans to build another coal port on the US side of the border also, increasing the amount of coal shipped out to Asia.
