Español: Caricatura sobre la degradación del oficial del ejército británico John Whitelocke, ocurrido a causa de su fracaso militar en el marco de las Invasiones Inglesas en el Río de la Plata. En la imagen dos chicos del tambor le quitan las charreteras y quiebran su sable. Un diablo le alcanza un arma para que se suicide diciendole "Now fellow if thou hast a spark of courage left take this" (ahora amigo si te queda una chispa de coraje toma esto) y Whitelocke pregunta "Have you taken the flint out" (Le has sacado el pedernal). Debajo de la imagen aparece el subtexto "Winging a shy cock". Esta frase parece ser un juego de palabras que que usa el doble significado de "cock" (gallo o jefe) al comparar la remoción de las alas de un "gallo tímido" con la remoción del rango de un "jefe tímido". Esta caricatura fue editada por Samuel William Fores (1761 - 1838) en 1808. |
