Though I also wonder how far they might also reflect the substantial changes around that time in what's now known as Original Pronunciation (OP) § It may be that the word "comfit" indicates he was a cook. [The original meaning of Comfit referring to a slow and lower temperature method of cooking and preserving meat in its own fat.] ______________________ § Perhaps the discrepancy in the dates of death given might be due to the calendar changes in England at around that time? (Julian to Gregorian). |
