Summary
[edit]DescriptionBadavilinga temple (Entrance), Hampi 01.jpg |
English: The Badavilinga is located to the north of the Lakshmi Narasimha statue. The shrine houses a massive monolithic Shiva Linga with a large circular pedestal (yoni pitha) that extends into a pranala (water outlet), all together measuring about 3 meters in height. Facing east, the shrine is built on a plain basement with a single projecting course. The walls are plain, and the now-dilapidated brick superstructure once rose above them. Inside, a corbelled ceiling can be observed, though its central slabs are missing. The lower part of the Linga remains submerged in water throughout the year, fed by a small canal drawn from the Tungabhadra River.
