English: Boeing B-50A Superfortress s/n 46-043 (c/n 15763) with looped hose receiving equipment being refueled by Boeing KB-29M Superfortress tanker s/n 45-21702 (c/n 13596), a converted B-29-BW.
The looped hose system was used by Boeing B-29A-75-BN Superfortress Lucky Lady I one of three Boeing B-29 Superfortresses that departed for a round-the-world trip in July-August 1948 from and to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. Two completed the 20,000 miles (32,000 km) flight in 15 days, one crashed in the Arabian Sea. The planes made eight stops and flew for 103 hours and 50 minutes. |
