DescriptionAustralia vs England at Adelaide Oval in 1902.jpg |
The Adelaide Oval, second day of the third test between Australia and England, 20 January 1902. Australia won by 4 wickets. "The English skipper commenced the day with a vigorous bombardment by his artillery, and the little Gunn proved a veritable Long Tom in his destructiveness. The batsmen offered resistance for a while, but he hurled his ammunition with such deadly precision that all opposition was futile, and the Australian side succumbed to the vigorous attack. Gunn conquered five wielders of the willow at a cost of 76 runs." The Register newspaper, Tuesday 21 January 1902. |
