Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Old Makonde-woman in full dress.
English: "Beauty" dearly bought.
This heavy disc inserted to distend the lips and, according to the standard of beaury of the Makonde tribe in Kenya, to enhance the facial charm, recalls to mind the old French adage: "One must suffer in order to be beautiful."
