[edit]Description2013 BAM Sharp Building main doors decorations west.jpg | The BAM Peter Jay Sharp Building is the main bulding of the Brooklyn Academy of Music. It wsa built in 1908 and was designed by Henery Beaumont Herts of Herts & Tallant in the Classical Revival style, with new canopies added in 2008 designed by Hugh Hardy/H3 Hardy Collaboration. (Source: AIA Guide to NYC (5th ed.)) The building contains the Howard Gilman Opera House (2,109 seats), the Rose Cinemas (formerly the Carey Playhouse), the LePercq Space (a multi-functional facility) and the Hillman Attic Studio (a small rehearsal and performance space), as well as offices and gallery space. |
