Description
English: Caption text says "More than a nation's chief has passed for these two in Harding's death. Uncle Charlie Patton, eighty-six-year-old Civil War veteran, came to Washington to tend the White House lawns from Marion, O. Beside Uncle Charlie, near the White House portico yesterday, and no less griefstricken, sat Inez McWhorter, the Harding colored cook during Senatorial and front porch days at Marion."
