About
The sixth annual Picture of the Year competition is an event where the images that became Featured Pictures during the (last) year are voted on by members from all Wikimedia projects, to produce a single Picture of the Year.
When can I vote?
- Round 1 of POTY 2011 will run...
- from 26 May 2012 23:00 [UTC]
- until 7 June 2012 21:00 [UTC]
- The first three days are beta testing period. Please check whether the voting script is working successfully.
- Votes in the testing period — the first three days — are also eligible. The committee will count them as well as the votes cast in the later period.
- If you find a bug for the voting tool, please report it to MediaWiki talk:EnhancedPOTY.js; report other things to Commons talk:Picture of the Year/2011.

Who can vote?
Only eligible users may vote. You need more than 75 edits before Sun, 01 Apr 2012 00:00:00 0000 [UTC] in a single Wikimedia account. You must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another Wikimedia project related to Commons account through SUL.
Even if you have multiple eligible accounts, you can vote only from one account.
This year, voting is assisted by an App that requires JavaScript and storage enabled. By participating in POTY 2011 you agree that the App attempts to store data about your eligibility, which files you have seen and what you have voted for on your machine.

How to vote?
Look through galleries for the Current Round of voting and take the time to look at all the pictures in any category you choose to vote in and click the "Vote" button below any image you wish to support.

- Eligible users may vote for as many candidates as they wish to support.
- You may cast one vote for one picture; duplicate votes will be removed or ignored while counting.
- In the Final Round - a single vote
- Each eligible user may vote for only one of the finalist images.
- If a voter happen to cast more than one vote, only the latest (newest) vote will be counted as eligible.
