In 1966, the Von KleinSmid Center for International and Public Affairs was built under the direction of American modernist architect Edward Durell Stone (1902-1978), and named for the university's fifth president, Dr Rufus Bernhard von KleinSmid (1875-1964). In 2020, von KleinSmid's name was removed from the building, as was a bust of von KleinSmid, the university's fifth president, due to latter-day controversies regarding his research and social positions.[1] In 2022 the building was re-named the Dr. Joseph Medicine Crow Center for International and Public Affairs.[2]
