Azərbaycan Naxçıvan - Naxçıvan Muxtar Respublikası

Naxçıvan Muxtar Respublikası, Kiçik Qafqazın cənub-qərb qurtaracağında yerləşir. Mürəkkəb təbii şəraitə malikdir. Ərazisi 5,500 km², əhalisinin sayı 370,000. Naxçıvan Muxtar Respublikası tipik dağlıq ərazidir. Ərazisisinin 32 faizi (Araz boyu düzənlik) dəniz səviyyəsindən 600-1000 metr yüksəklikdə, 48 faizi 2000 metrədək yüksəklikdə, 20 faizi isə 2000 metrdən yüksəklikdə yerləşir. Dağlıq ərazi şimaldan Dərələyəz və şərqdən Ələngəz dağları ilə əhatə olunmuşdur. Kiçik Qafqaz dağ silsiləsinə mənsub Ələngəz dağlarının ən yüksək nöqtəsi Qapıcıq dağı (3906 m), Dərələyəz dağlarının ən yüksək zirvəsi isə Kükü dağıdır (3120 m). 1918-ci ildə SSRİ-nin Erməni əsilli liderləri tərəfindən Zəngəzurun Ermənistana verilməsi ilə əlaqədar Naxçıvanın ərazisi Azərbaycanın əsas hissəsindən ayrı düşmüşdür. Ermənistan, İran və Türkiyə ilə sərhəddə malikdir.

The Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, known simply as Nakhichevan, is a landlocked exclave of ► Azerbaijan. The 5,500 km² region borders ► Armenia (221 km), ► Turkey (9 km) and ► Iran (179 km). Its capital is Nakhichevan City, home to the Nakhichevan State University.
