Anthere: tim ?
Anthere: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Recentchanges
Anthere: this user is a bot
Anthere: but it is still appearing in rc
Anthere: why ?
TimStarling: hang on
TimStarling: I think it's because uploads are not hidden, regardless of the bot flag
TimStarling: I'm surprised no-one has fixed that yet, people have been complaining about it for a long time
Anthere: ahhh
You got it !

Tags
editHi. Nice bot. I think that should run on all wikis to copy PD and GFDL images. However, some of the copied images were missing the license tags. E.g. Image:Swiss National Park, 1.jpg, Image:Swiss National Park, 2.jpg, Image:Swiss National Park, 3.jpg, or Image:Flag North-Holland, Netherlands.png. Could you make sure that there is always a tag? Thanks -- Chris 73 15:05, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Ah, I will. Sorry for the problem. About the copying of all images: I think this should be done server-side, because it would spare a lot of bandwidth. For now, I only do it for images on one language wiki I need on another. Gerrit 12:40, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC) (a.k.a. Topjaklont, owner of Topjabot)
- No problem. If it's done server side, then they may even be able to include the history of the image, including who uploaded it. Now that would be cool! -- Chris 73 14:09, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I fixed the user links, see [1] for example. I think it´s very odd that you don´t paste the history of images, because the original images on de.wikipedia (in this case) are deleted because they are already on the commons. If you don´t note the author with a link like from Tobo there´s a totally wrong information because Topjabot is not the author (which is not in accord with the GNU-FDL)! Please think about this as Chris 73 also pointed out above. Thanks a lot --:Bdk: 07:43, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Image:Athyrium filix-femina0.jpg
editHi Topjabot - this one Image:Athyrium filix-femina0.jpg is mis-identified; it is Asplenium trichomanes subsp. quadrivalens. I'll annotate the photo, but it should be moved to the correct name too - MPF 22:10, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- fixed, image is now stored as Image:Asplenium trichomanes subsp quadrivalens.jpg --:Bdk: 07:19, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Wrong aligned Images
editSome of the pictures uploaded by this Bot are view rotated 90° see Verbascum olympicum. --Donny 13:22, 3 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Its not only "some" ... there are many images which need rotation and it´s a f****** (sorry) work to fix it. I´ve rotated around 30 or more pictures up to now :-( --:Bdk: 07:12, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- A comment of Kurt Stüber in the picturelibrary:"This image collection is still somewhat under construction, so please forgive, when some of the images still have to be rotated by 90 degrees or when some of the family names are missing or not unique (Compositae and Asteraceae both occur for instance)."--Soebe 09:51, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- I have rotated over 50% of the collection of rotated photos and should be finished this week. WayneRay 17:12, 14 June 2006 (UTC)WayneRay

Correcting image names
editHi, just letting you know that these images have been moved to correct their wrong name:
- Image:Lilium pensylvanicum0.jpg --> Image:Hemerocallis sp 01.jpg
- Image:Lilium pensylvanicum1.jpg --> Image:Hemerocallis sp 02.jpg
- Image:Lilium pensylvanicum2.jpg --> Image:Hemerocallis sp 03.jpg
Thanks, pfctdayelise (translate?) 12:01, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 03:48, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

File tagging File:Ricinus_communis1.jpg
editThis media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Ricinus_communis1.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Ricinus_communis1.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
