Hello, Seloloving!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it please read the text above again and follow the links in it, if you still need help ask at the   Commons:Help desk in any language you like to use. --Nikbot 04:04, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

New Downtown Line MRT Stations

edit

Hi. Just saw you had uploaded images of the new Downtown MRT Stations. I will categorize them for you, but I wished you can take more pictures, including the artworks and the exits of the stations. Thanks!--LAi zhen kang (talk) 10:34, 19 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey, much obliged for helping me categorize them. I never could be bothered to do it. As for photos of station exits and artworks, will try to find the time, but with increasing security in Singapore, it's not going to be easy. Seloloving (talk) 14:49, 19 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I thought it shouldn't be that hard, but I realised you used a professional camera to take those than a phone. I will also go around to take some photos, even of the existing stations as some are slightly out of date, but depending whether I had time!116.15.10.216 14:12, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Count me in! If I have time I would go around and take some photos of the station platforms and exits. You can take a look at my photo album for the photos I took. Jianhui67 TC 16:03, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Probably okay to take photos of the artwork...have been stopped at Ubi though, not that it deterred me one bit. :) Seloloving (talk) 17:34, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

New uploads on the opening day:

I wish I had taken more, but I have limited time and the phone ran out of battery. You can still take more of the artworks at the stations and the other exits.--LAi zhen kang (talk) 03:02, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I like the one of the Bencoolen concourse. I did not manage to get a decent shot of MacPherson as the platforms are really quite featureless.Seloloving (talk) 08:10, 27 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey there. I went to Fort Canning, Bencoolen, Jalan Besar and Bendemeer MRT Station to take some photos. The photos are here. Wanted to continue but my phone ran out of battery. Jianhui67 TC 11:06, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Did more with an old camera. May not be that clear but at least captured the 'big picture'. The pictures are not in chronological order.

I had actually more, and not including that I had not uploaded! See https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ListFiles/ZKang123&ilshowall=1 for the rest.

When I took a picture at Bishan MRT, a security guard actually stopped me for a sec and told me the MRT stations are 'protected areas'. Well, I will not be taking more MRT pictures, except in the future I will go to the stations in the west and north side and take more, like Woodlands, the BPLRT, Punggol, Tuas West etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ZKang123 (talk • contribs) 04:52, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

About your uploads (Minor comment)

edit

Hi Seloloving,

Thanks for adding photos to the Wikipedia articles based on Singapore's Railway system. You help readers get a better visual image of the alignments of the railway lines and pictures of the MRT stations.

However, some of the information provided in your images are not very accurate. For example, in [your upload] about the Singapore MRT Network, you illustrated that the North East Line's Punggol Coast Station Extension was under construction. As of Oct 23, 2017, no such article publishers have officially stated that works on it began. (Works are planned to commence on quarter 2 2018)

I do hope that some of the informations provided through these uploads can give a better understanding of what is going on with SG's rail network. You rock!

Regards, Cosecant57 (talk) 2017-10-23, 13:51 (UTC)

Thanks for noticing the problem with Punggol Coast. I think perhaps I should rename the labels as confirmed stations and unconfirmed lines.

Seloloving (talk) 04:13, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Cosecant57 I based the map on this PDF, by the way. https://www.lta.gov.sg/data/apps/news/press/2017/20170607_Alignment_NELe_AnnexA.pdf Seloloving (talk) 14:20, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Also, what about some of your other uploads like [this one]? Will you be updating it and the others too? Cosecant57 (talk) January 9, 2018, 18:15 (UTC)
Hello, I have no plans to update the map you linked, as it has been superseded by the version with the station names. Seloloving (talk) 10:16, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I suggest you do a map like File:Malaysia election results map by percentage, 2018.svg for GESG, tq.*angys* (talk) 20:15, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Need help regarding map

Hello. Saw your work File:Integrated Train Testing Centre map.png. I just loved it. I also love to make make maps and learning inkscape. Wanted to know, how you made the elevated sections? Can you share me the inkscape svg? ArnabSaha (talk) 15:34, 1 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello ArnabSaha. Thanks for the acknowledgement. Yes, I will be willing to send you the SVG file. I did not upload the original as the floorplan remains very much conceptual and did not wish others to alter it too easily. On my user page on en:User:Seloloving, please click Email this user on the sidebar, and I will send it to you.
I created the elevated section by simply pasting the same 'stroke' behind the existing one, and increasing its width. Seloloving (talk) 16:08, 1 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Copyright?

It's from a personal collection of postcards and old negatives that have been scanned. Arnhem555 (talk) 15:19, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Arnhem555, scanning photos does not grant you their copyrights. Copyright of photos taken before 10 April 1987 last 70 years from the date that are taken, while portraits/paintings last 70 years after the death of the creator.
As such, the portrait remains under copyright until 70 years after the death of its creator. You must prove that the artist has been deceased for at least 70 years. Seloloving (talk) 15:27, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given

edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 13:59, 7 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
