Image Tagging Image:Aegolius funereus.png
edit
Thanks for uploading Image:Aegolius funereus.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.

You uploaded this image which you claim to be your own work. On the upload page you agreed to place it under a Free license but did not specify which one. Please do so by replacing the {{OwnWork}} tag with a suitable copyright tag. --GeorgHH 20:23, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, can you make a new version in which the Asian coastal habitat is more recognizable? E.g. simply repainting the coastlines with some translucent green and a slightly wider brush. Thank you! Dysmorodrepanis 21:48, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi, you uploaded two images that appear identical, Image:Streptopelia turtur01.JPG and Image:Streptopelia_turtur.JPG are they exactly the same? Thanks --Tony Wills 02:55, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, sorry. Scops 01:25, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not a problem :-), I have marked Image:Streptopelia_turtur.JPG as a duplicate of Image:Streptopelia_turtur01.JPG, by adding {{duplicate|Image:Streptopelia_turtur01.JPG}} to its description and expect an admin will delete the earlier version --Tony Wills 04:20, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Source map use?
editI'm interested in producing maps for some African bird species, and used your African map in Meyer's Parrot. Am I allowed to do so, or would you suggest that I use another source map? I'm not sure what the origin of the source map is. Is the licence that I attach to it correct? JMK 16:24, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hello Scops~commonswiki!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Verbreitungskarte
editHallo,
Image: Mulleripicus_pulverulentus_distr.png
editThanks for adding a distribution map for Great Slaty Woodpecker (Mulleripicus pulverulentus). You cite Winkler et al. (1995) as a source for the map but note that several islands are included in your map where this species in fact does not occur, as is apparent if you read the text in Winkler et al (1995). The small map in Winkler et al. (1995) is not very clear so I can understand where the errors came from. Specifically, Mulleripicus pulverulentus does not occur on the Andaman Islands nor on Saubi Island northeast of Java. Between Borneo and Sumatra, the species does not occur on Karimata as shown on your map but it does occur on Bintan and Lingga islands in that region. Finally, although Sumatra and Natuna are included in your map as in Winkler et al. (1995), the historic and current occurrence of the species on those islands is questionable (Lammertink et al. 2009), so a question mark would be appropriate on your map for those islands.

Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Scops. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Scops~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
