Hi Ningyou! Thank you for making your lovely maps. Just wondering if you had a French version of this one: [[1]] Many thanks! --Bern Bern Kay (talk) 15:47, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Maps

edit

Is it okay if I upload no-text version ontop of your maps, e.g. Image:Scandinavia-12th century.png? The English text limits their use. In addition, the text is hard to read on thumbs anyways. / Fred Chess 18:40, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, sure, if you make a finnish version of it too ;) --Ningyou 21:13, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Large map of Hokkaido within Japan.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. I have no idea which map it is. Could you describe it? I have uploaded only maps made by myself and I publish all of them under PD-Self. I would like to know which one of all my maps it is... --Ningyou 20:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Your page is still on my watchlist. I noticed that there has been a mistake -- some IP-user removed your PD-self tag, and it got your images deleted. You can see it in the file history. I have now restored the image. / Fred Chess 22:20, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I was actually thinking that something like that might have happened. Thank you anyways :) --Ningyou 11:29, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Today I found that User:72.48.116.182 had removed your {{PD-self}} tag from your image. I apologize for not noticing that. - LERK (Talk / Contributions) 02:39, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Apology accepted! :) --Ningyou 05:16, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Using one of your picture

edit

I just finnish converting to svg this [[2]] image you made. Since the work is released under the PD licence, you might not want modification. If there are any problems, we might discuss of it !

Hey! You could have asked me, as I have the original .svg format stored somewhere :) But as it was released to public domain, I don't naturally mind you using it :) --Ningyou 16:57, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Two deleted Locator maps of districts of Helsinki

edit

As a response to your request: the two locator maps have been deleted because they have been superseded. The archipelago borders have been updated in the maps below. However, it seems that my deletion requests were denied on 20 April 2009. Perhaps someone else has requested the deletion also and not added deletion warning template on your talk page. --Siipikarja (talk) 11:03, 19 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Finnish municipality map

edit

Hi! and thanks for a great map of the Finnish municipalities of 2006. What I´ve read though lots of them have merged and the map is therefore incorrect. Could i beg you to make a new one for 2010? please :) Mrkommun (talk) 11:38, 4 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dear Ningyou,

First of all, I just wanted to say thank you for your work in making pictures available on Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to use one of your photos in a publication I am working on at the moment, and since it will be produced by a charity organization my royalties are not large (and would quickly be swallowed up if I had to pay for images).

My publisher, however, has requested that I confirm with you that you are willing to give me permission to use the following:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Map_of_Assyria.png

Are you fine with this? If so, could you please let me know by email at [email protected]

Once again, thanks for your work and I look forward to hearing back from you.

All the best,

Dr Aaron Chalmers

Regarding Flag_of_Kosovo.svg

edit

Hello. I noticed that you and Cradel created an SVG for Flag of Kosovo. I am involved in a project to put together a repository of flags for all standard registered geographical regions (according to IETF language tag and IANA Subtag Registry). Our main criteria for this repository is that all the flags are available as Public Domain. So far we managed to collect information for 240 out of 246 needed flag which are all available as Public Domain on Wikipedias or Commons. Few examples:

Your file, Flag of Kosovo, is among those 6 which are not release under Public Domain and I'm contacting you (as well as Cradel) to see if it would be possible to re-license this image under PD. Obviously, if you agree to do this, we will make sure that a link-back to Commons page for the image as well as authors' attribution are embedded in the file's metadata fields. We will also provide all the authors of those images collected with a link to the public repository where last version of images are stored. I'd appreciate it if you let me know about the possibility of this. Thank you very much in advance. --Shervinafshar (talk) 00:26, 10 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely, I don't mind at all having it changed to PD! --Ningyou (talk) 08:18, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

your date for the Jammon vessel from Japan

edit

"3000" BC" - is this what is stated on the museum plaque?? That is far, far too early in history for an artifact like this. Please confirm, because as a historian I am greatly troubled any time I see timeframes exaggerated - I don't mean you did it intentionally, but sometimes nationalism creeps in to even official institutions. File:Electoral districts in election of the parliament Finland 2007.svg

edit

Hi Ningyou, I’m sorry to say this but this map with the Åland Islands right up close to the Mainland has become a fast template for others’ work, and it’s clear from this graphic that you had a particular reason to do this, it’s just this particular map has become something of a favourite for Finland when its purpose was originally quite specific. This needs fixing, but if it can’t be me or you, do you know who can? It won’t be a big task, but it won’t be a small one either. Gherkinmad (talk) 21:17, 2 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
